“I joined The Club to become a better driver. I wanted more track time. I wanted the option of working on my driving skills in a safe environment. I love driving events, but also wanted track time without worrying about the crowds. I wanted to run the track working on specific skills, working on my weaknesses, on specific corners in differing track conditions, and to do it on my schedule.
I considered the cost—how many days would I have to be there to justify the cost based on the cost of other driving events. However, I quickly realized that when considering all the benefits–the cost was more than worth it. Some of the things I wanted are not even attainable at driving events. In retrospect, the cost has become the least important factor of all.
I get so much enjoyment out of my membership. It’s all here: As much track time as I want, nearly whenever I want, usually with little or no traffic; The ability to study track segments and corners, and have more time to experiment; to learn by walking or bicycling the track if I want; and more.
And, the driving is only part of it. The Clubhouse and garages are absolutely top notch. Hanging out in the clubhouse, catching up with other members, playing pool or darts or racing on the simulators as well as having a bourbon or beer when we are done for the day adds an entirely new dimension to track days.
If you want to become a better driver, and have a blast along the way, this is the place!”JOHN SUNDERLAND, LOUISVILLE, KY- EXECUTIVE MEMBER
“I consider my membership in The Club to be a very wise investment. It’s a “Time Machine!” Like so many other performance car enthusiasts, my time has many demands on it. Free time is a luxury that should not be wasted.
Running my performance car at The Club on one of the hundred+ available member days is the most efficient and effective way I can use this valuable free time. When I find a few hours to get away, I can get to the track on short notice, fire up my car in my secure garage and turn laps to my heart’s content.
I can turn as few or as many laps as I like. I can spend the entire day or just squeeze in a couple hours of high-speed fun. No constraints. No time schedule. Just turn laps as you like. The laps are extremely safe as you run side by side with only experienced, like-minded, professionally trained drivers who quickly become your good friends. We all help each other go just a little faster. Now that is fun! The Clubhouse is a great place to cool down, relax and fraternize. The amenities are first class! Steak Nights are the best! See you at the track!”MIKE SONNEBORN, BLOOMINGTON, IN- BOARD MEMBER
“Like many members, I got my start in HPD doing a track day with the local PCA chapter. It was addictive. From there I did a three day Skip Barber class and then on to Vintage racing for 20+ years. I had street legal cars that I also wanted to take to the track. I had grown beyond the grind of preparing a car for a weekend track event and wanted something more convenient.
I knew Putnam Park from a group in Cincinnati that would rent the track for a couple of days each year. We always enjoyed it. Chris approached that group with the idea of converting Putnam into a “club” similar to what VIR had done. I think I was either Chris’s second or third member!
Yes I would like for it to be closer but I couldn’t ask for more than the continuous improvements that have been made to the track since I joined. Those improvements made to the track itself have made it safer and even more enjoyable! The amenities afforded by the garages and Clubhouse are all first class. The fringe benefits for guests and immediate family are great! And best of all, it’s all pretty much available on my time not someone else’s!”BILL LUKEN, CINCINNATI, OH- BOARD MEMBER
“When I was first asked to come out to The Club my first thoughts were no way- this would be useless to me, not only do I lack track experience (I had zero), but I don’t see why locking myself into a track membership would make sense. It wasn’t until I was at a Saturday Cars & Coffee car show and I was around some of the members that I realized there was more to this country club than I thought.
After one afternoon at The Club I was hooked. I don’t golf or have many hobbies other than work. Joining The Club not only gave me a hobby, but a place to hang out and “shoot-the-shit” with like-minds. The members, staff, food and facilities are all first class. It’s more than a track and I highly suggest to anyone serious about Motorsports to join.”MARCUS LAIBE, INDIANAPOLIS, IN- INDIVIDUAL MEMBER
“My connection with Putnam started at the Chicago auto show in 2011. Ford was announcing its re-launch of the Boss 302 Mustang. A limited production based upon the 1969-70 original. Ford had a Boss 302 on a dyno and they would run it up to full speed every hour. The sound drew me in and the next day I set out to obtain one. As part of the purchase, Ford provided both a Boss 302 car and professional instruction for 2 days in Utah. That was my first exposure to running a road course at speed and led to my search for a track near Indy.
In early 2012 I ran across an article that mentioned Putnam Park and Chris’ intent to create a lapping club. On a cold day in February, my youngest son and I met Chris at the track where he shared his plans for Putnam. Shortly afterwards we signed up.
Putnam Park has continued to expand and improve over the years to be a truly first-rate facility. The clubhouse, garages, and the staff make every experience enjoyable. Chris continues to enhance the member experience through improvements, events and expansion of member-only days.
It is fantastic to get on the track, but for me it is extremely important to be at the track with my sons. Both have their own track cars so we can run a few laps and share our experiences. To increase the opportunity for my family to participate, I recently upgraded to the Executive membership level.”
“The Club is a fantastic way to get away. It’s the Country Club for the guy who doesn’t want a typical Country Club! It’s truly an experience all the way around. The clubhouse, drinks, simulators and most of all – the track – are fun and kept in superb condition.
Chris, the owner, is there most days and sees to it that every member gets more than they expected with evening events and steak dinners several times a month. The money is truly secondary once you realize all the Club has to offer.
All in all, it’s a great way to improve your driving (or racing) skills and have a lot of fun.”
“My son and I joined the Club after a regional search. The experience at Putnam Park is the best we found. The limited number of Members, great value and facilities made the choice quite easy. In the 2 plus years since joining, nothing has changed our minds.
The track time, character of the members and the professionalism of the Staff make it the best for working on or improving your driving skills in a uniquely “safe” track environment. Chris has a way of making everyone feel ‘relaxed”, yet the focus never moves away from the mission of “safety”. Try a Track Day, it is the answer.”TRACY AXTON, LOUISVILLE, KY- BOARD MEMBER
“I have been a member of the Club at Putnam Park for six years. Prior to that I participated in “public” track days around the Midwest. I also raced vintage cars with VSCDA.
I joined the Club for several reasons:
I like the flexibility that a membership provides. If your personal schedule is busy you can pick a day, months in advance. If your personal schedule is more flexible, you can watch the weather and run on short notice. And as a member you have plenty of opportunities to run. If you live close by you can come out to take a few laps. If you live further away, as I do, you can run two or more days in a row.
The track is fun, challenging, well maintained and has plenty of runoff area in most of the corners. And the other members are safe and responsible. If someone isn’t, Chris will deal with them. Frankly, I feel safer at Putnam than I do on most public roads.
I can run an open wheel car. I have never found a public track day that allowed that.
The facilities and grounds are immaculate. Chris has very high standards and he and his staff take their job seriously.
The Clubhouse and garages are a real plus, particularly in hot or inclement weather.
And Last but not least, Chris and the other members are fun. Chris is a social animal and wouldn’t have it any other way. He wants you to have fun both on and off the track.”CHARLIE VAN DYKE, ST. LOUIS, MO- FOUNDING MEMBER
“The Club at Putnam Park is perfect for an amateur racer. More than 100 test days available and in typically 3 day consecutive chunks. The flexibility implied is extremely useful. If for some reason one is able to do only 5 laps in a day… so what, come back the next day or the next week. Choose your weather and temperature, etc.
The track is also smoother than most tracks in the Midwest and the facilities are top notch. The track includes some off camber and downhill braking segments which are a good test of an oiling system. I found out things at Putnam about my dry sump system that were not at all apparent on flat tracks.”CRAIG B., NASHVILLE, IN- BOARD MEMBER
“The Club has been a revelation for me. Knowing that it is available 3 days every week makes scheduling a breeze. I’ve been at the track alone, with 1 Member, and with 5 Members. I always leave tired, never thinking I needed more laps. It is impossible to compare this experience with attending the typical car club outings. It’s like the difference between having to get a tee time and having your own golf course!”KELLY MARSH, COLUMBUS, OH- FOUNDING MEMBER
“I love The Club for the fact that we get to all be together and enjoy a first class race track & facility in a private setting. Much the same as a golf membership, it allows one to truly “ find it “ on your own schedule and your own pace. When I say Find it, that means somewhat different things to each of us but at the end of the day being a club allows for everyone to relax and enjoy the sport that brings us together.”BO LEMASTUS, LOUISVILLE, KY- FOUNDING MEMBER
“Chris Diasio runs a top shelf track!!!! If you have a sports car in your garage and you continue to wipe it down and just look at it everyday; my suggestion is to stop now! Get it out and enjoy it on the track- that is what they are made for. Chris and the instructors will give you the confidence to grow at the level you are comfortable with. I get a great adrenaline rush every time I am out and can’t wait to get back to the track.”ANDY WERNSMAN, JAMESTOWN, IN- FOUNDING MEMBER
“The Club has been one of the highlights of my life! It’s great, you let Chris know when you’re coming and everyone is ready and waiting for you to drive. There is no waiting, you spend as much time on the track as you want. The Clubhouse is just as nice as any multi million dollar home, if not better. Furnishing in the Clubhouse are top notch and no expense was spared. It is a very comfortable environment that is easy to relax and refresh after driving the track. Last, the garages are perfect and have plenty of space to spread out if you wish. It’s tough to work when you have The Club and track at your fingertips!”BILL LEHMAN, WESTFIELD, IN- FOUNDING MEMBER
“Track clubs are now common in each region of the country for one purpose- fun: exploring our car limits and practice time to improve our skills. What is unique at The Club is Chris’ attention to members achieving each goal. The new Clubhouse and track improvements are excellent. All I have seen are large smiles on happy member faces. No one can pay me for an endorsement. Chris and the track staff have a large thumbs-up from me! Cheers to tires singing!”JACK FARR, BARGERSVILLE, IN- BOARD MEMBER
“This sums up my Membership in The Club: It was a beautiful summer day in 2014- I grabbed a cup of coffee from the Clubhouse and went into my private garage around 9:00am and suited up for 2 track sessions on my Ducati 999 and Suzuki 600 track bikes. The riding leathers and late morning sun made me retire the bikes to my garage and go to the Clubhouse to cool down and check some e-mails, while I watched sports and news on the big screen TV’s.
Back to the garage before noon and I threw on a fire suit for a few sessions in my Formula car, then back to the Club House to cool down, have some lunch and chat with other members. After lunch, I jumped into my Spec Miata and shared a few sessions with other members on a very fast and sticky track making for some of the best laps that afternoon. I pulled the Spec Miata into the garage, changed out of my fire suit, closed the garage door and went into the Clubhouse to have a few beers with members and recall our day.
I completed a triathlon of racing vehicles at my leisure, out of my own garage, all in one day with the very posh Clubhouse and amenities and in the company of members with like-minds and passion. The best part was knowing I could do something like this about 100 times per year at The Club if I really wanted to. Now, where else in America, or the world for that matter, can you have a track day like that?”JIM KRAMPEN, BROWNSBURG, IN- BOARD MEMBER
